About our school

Monroe Preparatory Academy is a public charter school serving students from Early Education through 8th grade in Sandusky, Ohio. Ohio grades every school on an annual state report card, and Monroe Prep earned a 4-Star rating in Progress, which means students at this school are growing faster than the state average. The school's Performance Index score climbed from 68.3 in 2023-24 to 71.3 in 2024-25, a 3-point gain in a single year.
Monroe Prep is a neighborhood school. That means it's built for the community it serves, the children who live nearby, the families with deep roots in Sandusky, and the parents who want their child's school to feel like it belongs to them. Teachers know students by name. Administrators are accessible. Parents are treated as partners in the day-to-day work of the school, not as outside observers checking in once a semester. That isn't a program. It's how the place runs.
What sets Monroe Prep apart is the commitment to knowing each child personally. Teachers work with students where they are academically and invest in their social and emotional growth — and families stay informed and involved every step of the way.
Monroe Preparatory Academy is a publicly funded school. There's no tuition, no fees, and no cost to families.
- Every student gets free breakfast and lunch every day.
