FEBRUARY 2022 NEWS AND IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER
“THROW KINDNESS AROUND LIKE CONFETTI!”
Kindness is our character trait focus this month!
Throughout the month of February, MPA students will have the opportunity to practice many random acts of kindness in the school and community. Making time to intentionally show others kindness creates deeper, more meaningful relationships between peers, staff, and community volunteers. This also helps to foster a learning environment where students feel valued, nurtured, and respected for their own unique personalities. We will be teaching students creative ways to make each other smile and will encourage everyone to “pay kindness forward” not just this month, but everyday.

FROM THE DESK OF PRINCIPAL BLACKSHIRE
MPA Families,
I would like to thank you for being patient with us as we have worked through staffing issues and remote learning days. I am happy to announce that all staff members are currently healthy and back with the kids! I’m also excited to announce that we have a few new staff members that will be joining our MPA family this month. We still have employment opportunities available. If you are interested in inquiring about openings, please reach out to the school office.
A February focus is on getting the students re-enrolled for the 2022-2023 school year. Please fill out and send the re-enrollment form back to school with your child. In order for enrollment to be completed, we need you to attach a copy or send a picture (text, email) of your proof of residency. Proof of residency can be a utility bill, government document, lease agreement, rent receipt, etc. (no junk mail) that shows your name, address and a date within 60 days. If you are undecided, it is better to go ahead and complete this process to ensure that your child’s spot is reserved while you are making final decisions. All students who return their forms and PORs will have the opportunity to attend a magic show with Rick Smith Jr. on March 4th. Please reach out to your child’s teacher or the school office (567)998-7522 with any questions.
We will be working on increasing our student attendance rates this month. As a student incentive, we will be finding classroom attendance averages each week and the class with the highest attendance rate for the week will be treated with a surprise from the administration team (class pizza party, craft time with different staff members, dance parties in the gym, etc.). Please help your child get to school each day on time and ready to learn. Remind older students to set alarm clocks so that they can begin to be self-disciplined with waking up and following a morning routine. As always, if your child is sick, it is better that they stay home so that we can keep those in the building healthy. Please call the office or submit the absence form online https://monroeprep.org/report-absence/ if your child is going to be absent.
A Step Beyond is an onsite counseling agency that is available Mon.-Fri. to help your child and family with a variety of things such as academic support, social/emotional needs, locating community resources, etc. In order for your child to receive these services, they need to be referred to the program and parent permission/enrollment into the program is a requirement. If you would like to take advantage of these services and have not been contacted, you can reach out to your child’s teacher or the school office. We are continuously working to develop community partnerships and relationships that will ensure that all student needs are met. It takes a team!
I wish everyone a fabulous February! Please remember to “throw kindness around like confetti!”
Sincerely,
Principal Blackshire
